Aggravated assault
A Brandon woman was arrested late last week for allegedly stabbing a man’s hand.
On Friday morning, police responded to a residence for a report of a disturbance. While at the home, police discovered that a 31-year-old man had a stab wound to his hand.
Officers arrested a 26-year-old woman. The two knew each other, police say.
Assault with a weapon
A 36-year-old man was arrested on Friday afternoon for allegedly attacking a man with a machete.
Police responded to a downtown hotel for a report of a man who had been attacked with a machete.
The man had sustained injuries to his face and hand and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Police say his injuries were not life-threatening.
The investigation revealed that the man had been attacked with the machete at a different location and went to the hotel for help.
The suspect was located and arrested. Police say neither of the men knew each other.
Sexual assault
A 21-year-old man was arrested on the weekend and charged with sexual assault.
On Saturday, police responded to a woman’s report of an assault by a man who was known to her. The alleged assault took place in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue.
The man was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date
Assault on girlfriend
A 28-year-old man was arrested on Sunday at a residence on Elderwood Drive for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
The woman had reported being assaulted by her boyfriend while at a residence on the 1600 block of Stickney Avenue.
Police say the woman did not require medical treatment for her injuries.
Physical assault
A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a female who was known to him.
Police say the man allegedly punched the female in the face while in the 900 block of Middleton Avenue.
The suspect was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
Superstore theft
A 32-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday after allegedly stealing $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Real Canadian Superstore on Victoria Avenue.
Responding to a theft complaint, police found the woman in the store parking lot, transferring the merchandise from a basket to bags. After her arrest, police found that was also the subject of a search warrant for another theft and was on court-ordered conditions to not attend the Superstore.
The merchandise was returned to the store. The woman faces charges of theft and breach of probation.
Causing a disturbance
A 14-year-old girl was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance at a residence on the 1600 block of Sycamore Drive.
Police say the suspect had breached the curfew condition of her undertaking. She was arrested and held for court in the morning.
