The Mountain View School Division has announced the candidates for four trustee positions in the Oct. 30 byelection.

The candidates are Conrad Nabess, Floyd Martens and Rebeca Gryba for Ward 1; Scott Lynxleg, Carter Taylor-Luke and Ashleigh Yaskowich for Ward 2; and Jaime Paterson, Jarri Thompson and Daniel McKay for Ward 4.

Of the three trustees who resigned from the board in June, only Martens is seeking re-election.

Four trustees will be elected out of the nine candidates — two from Ward 1 and one each from Ward 2 and 4, MVSD said in a press release issued Friday.

Voters residing in Ward 1, the release said, can cast their ballots at the Roblin Community Centre, in the Sapphire Room, at 55 Sixth Ave. NE in Roblin.

Ward 2 voters will have multiple options depending on their municipality. Residents of the Gilbert Plains Municipality can vote at the Gilbert Plains Legion, while Grandview Municipality voters will head to the Grandview Kinsmen Community Centre Board Room. Residents in the Municipality of Ethelbert and the RM of Mountain can vote at the Emergency Services Building in Ethelbert.

For Ward 4, voting will take place at the Dauphin Friendship Centre at 210 First Ave. NE in Dauphin.

The voting stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30. For those unable to attend their designated polling place on election day, an advance voting opportunity is available on Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dauphin Friendship Centre.

This advance voting applies to all residents of wards 1, 2 and 4.

Voters who are unable to vote in person or during the advance voting period can apply for a sealed envelope ballot. Applications can be made in person, in writing or by fax to the senior election official (S.E.O.) between Oct. 2 and Oct. 25.

Those applying in person will be able to pick up their sealed envelope ballot package immediately. Voters applying by mail or fax will receive their ballot package by regular post, or they may make alternative arrangements with the S.E.O.
