The RCMP arrested and charged two men on multiple counts following the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, cash, cocaine and methamphetamine on Thursday, Dec. 5.
The seizure was made from a mobile home located about five kilometres north west of Alexander. The accused — 45-year-old Robert Saunders and 50-year-old Lyle Huber — were inside the mobile home at the time.
According to the Mounties, the arrests and seizures are part of an ongoing firearms investigation, involving members of Brandon RCMP, Brandon Police Service, and the Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST).
The members executed three search warrants at a residence located on Road 122 West in the Rural Municipality of Whitehead on Thursday, where they found the mobile home next to the residence.
A search of the property led to the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, cash, approximately 296 grams of cocaine and 70 grams of methamphetamine. A motorcycle, reported stolen from Brandon on October 15 this year was also recovered, according to police.
Saunders was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and faces three firearms charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm. Huber was also taken into custody and was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
