MAN VIOLATES PROBATION

Brandon police arrested a 45-year-old man on Thursday morning at a hotel on the 1800 block of 18th Street North for failing to comply with the terms of his probation and release orders. He was kept in detention and appeared in court later that day.

DRUNK WOMAN ARRESTED

The Brandon Police Service station at 10th Street and Victoria Avenue. The province's Independent Investigation Unit has cleared to Brandon police officers of allegations they used excessive force against a man during arrest, the IIU’s civilian director noting that the complainant's claimed injuries weren't substantiated medically and that the officers were justified in using the force they did. Brandon police arrested a 49-year-old intoxicated woman on Thursday afternoon. Officers made the arrest after the woman made multiple 911 hang-up calls from the 1700 block of Middleton Avenue. She was taken to a detention cell and released once sober.

WOMAN ASSAULTS BCC OFFICER

A 32-year-old woman incarcerated at the Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) was arrested on Thursday afternoon for biting an employee’s finger. She was held in detention at BCC and appeared in court on Friday.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND

Police officers arrested a 29-year-old man on Wednesday evening for allegedly assaulting his 18-year-old girlfriend. The accused also allegedly tried to prevent the female from leaving the house, while reportedly holding a machete at the time. The female managed to escape while the accused was showering. When police arrived, they arrested the man, who was deemed sober. Police also ensured the couple’s children were safe, following which they seized the weapons found in the home. The man was taken to a Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cell and appeared in court on Friday.
