YOUTH WITH ARREST WARRANT SURRENDERS
A 13-year-old boy surrendered to Brandon Police Service (BPS) on Monday afternoon, saying he had an outstanding warrant for arrest. BPS confirmed the same, and the boy was arrested and released for a court appearance at a later date in January.
MAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING WALLET
On Monday afternoon, officers responded to a complaint from a customer at a business located on the 1500 block of 18th Street, who said their wallet had been stolen. Police reviewed surveillance footage, following which a man, 27, was identified as the thief and arrested without incident. He was released later and will appear in court in March.
MAN ARRESTED FOR BREACHING PROBATION
BPS arrested a man, 23, on Monday night from an address located on the 300 block of 13th Street, for violating court orders barring him from the residence as well as contact with the resident. Officers found the accused hiding in a closet at the time of arrest. He was held in detention and appeared in court on Tuesday morning.
WOMAN ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING CHARGES
A woman, 33, was arrested early on Tuesday morning during a routine traffic stop conducted on the 900 block of Pacific Avenue by BPS officers. The accused was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for theft under $5,000 and had also failed to attend court. She was released later with a court date in January.
YOUTH UNDER THE INFLUENCE ARRESTED
A 15-year-old youth, reportedly high on drugs and acting violently, was arrested early on Tuesday morning. Officers reached an address on the 1400 block of 22nd Street after receiving a report about the youth acting violently. He was held in detention for his safety and will be released once sober.
ARRESTS MADE FOR OUTSTANDING WARRANTS
BPS officers made multiple arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday in cases of individuals with outstanding warrants. In the first instance, a female, 20, was arrested from her residence on the 100 block of Second Street on Tuesday afternoon for having an endorsed warrant for arrest and for failing to attend court. She was released later and will appear in court on Jan. 27 for a hearing on new charges, as well as previous outstanding charges. Another woman, 49, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for having two endorsed warrants of arrest and for failing to attend court and responding to an identification request. She was released later and will attend court on Jan. 30. Officers arrested a 19-year-old-female, early on Wednesday morning, from a Westaway Bay residence for failing to attend court. She was released later with a Feb. 25 court date.
RUSSELL RCMP ARREST MAN WITH BPS WARRANT
A man, 56, was arrested by the Russell RCMP for an outstanding BPS warrant issued for a failure to attend court. He was released later with a Brandon court date of Feb. 27.
MAN ASSAULTED, CAR STOLEN
A man flagged down a police cruiser in the Cornell Bay area early on Saturday morning, to report that his vehicle had been stolen by three men, who had also assaulted him before confining him in a nearby residence. Officers identified two of the suspects during subsequent investigations. Another suspect was seen on foot in the 400 block of Maryland Avenue on Saturday afternoon and was arrested. He was held in custody and appeared in court on Wednesday.
