PEDESTRIAN HIT BY TAXI

A pedestrian was hit by a taxi, early on Wednesday morning, at the intersection of Brandon Avenue and 10th Street. The pedestrian was rushed to Brandon Regional Hospital Centre (BRHC) in an ambulance and remains under observation due to a brain bleed. Police continue to investigate the incident.

DRUNK WOMAN ARRESTED

An inebriated woman, 20, was arrested on Wednesday after officers received reports of a female driver swerving on the road prior to hitting a ditch on Victoria Avenue East. On arrival at the scene, officers found the woman trying to push her vehicle out. She was also found to have an outstanding RCMP warrant for impaired driving following which her licence was seized on behalf of the RCMP. She also failed a sobriety test, following which a blood sample was taken and submitted to the BRHC for evaluation. She was released later with a court date in Virden slated for March 7.

MINOR CHARGED FOR DRINKING

Brandon police received report of a missing minor female on Wednesday night. The female, who was reported missing for 24 hours, had been located in Westaway Bay by the caller. She was reported to be in a state of intoxication and had run away from the caller, but was later located near Pacific Avenue and Alaska Bay. She was held in detention and will be released once sober to a guardian.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

A van, reported stolen from the 500 block of Percy Street on Wednesday afternoon was recovered withing 12 hours from the 500 block of Rosser Avenue East by patrolling BPS officers. At the time of the missing vehicle report, the keys were accounted for and no surveillance was available. The owner of the missing vehicle was unable to provide the licence plate number at the time of the report. Once recovered, the stolen vehicle was towed for further investigation.
