WOMAN, MAN ARRESTED FOR THEFT
A 41-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday after she attended Brandon Police Service headquarters and it was determined that she had falsely deposited two cheques for $500 each on July 8, 2024. She was arrested, questioned and later released with a March 20 court date.
Police also arrested a 37-year-old man on Tuesday for theft at a business located on the 900 block of 18th Street North. He reportedly stole items worth $65.93 and fled on foot on 18th Street toward Braecrest Drive. He was located, arrested and charged with theft of under $5,000 and released on an undertaking and court date set for March 31. The stolen items were returned.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT
Officers arrested a 53-year-old man on Tuesday on charges of ongoing assault over the last year, including an incident of sexual assault involving a 46-year-old woman last month. He was temporarily held in detention before being released on an undertaking and a Feb. 20 court date.
ONE MAN ARRESTED, ANOTHER ESCAPES
A traffic stop for a taxi just before 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday resulted in BPS officers pulling over two men, aged 41 and 44. When the taxi stopped, both rear doors opened, and the two men got out. The 41-year-old man fled on foot and was later apprehended inside a nearby hotel. When he was brought back outside, the other accused was found to have also escaped and could not be located. A search for him continues. Meanwhile, a straight-blade knife that fell from the 44-year-old man’s pants was retrieved. Officers also found a homemade, operational stun gun. A search of the taxi was also conducted, where a backpack with a long firearm barrel sticking out of it was located. The backpack was found to contain a .22-calibre rifle, without the stock, along with a yellow crowbar and gloves. The 41-year-old is bound by multiple court orders, which resulted in several breaches. He appeared in court on Wednesday morning.
