MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT AND MISCHIEF

Police arrested a 24-year-old man in the 500 block of Louise Avenue on Tuesday morning. The man had allegedly smashed a television and been violent toward his girlfriend on Sunday. He was charged with assault and mischief under $5,000, and released with an undertaking a court date of April 10.

A 26-year-old woman who was in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) was arrested on Tuesday in relation to a prior theft on Jan. 23 from a store on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. The woman is accused of stealing almost $50 worth of cosmetics. Police said they used video surveillance footage to identify the suspect. She was held in custody to appear in court on Wednesday.

STOLEN WALLET TRACKED WITH AIRTAG

A 44-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in relation to a wallet reportedly being stolen from a work van that was parked next to an address on the 400 block of 13th Street. An Apple AirTag was used to track the wallet, and police followed it to the 600 block of 15th Street.

The rightful owner, and police were notified about a failed attempt to use a credit card from the wallet. Police say the suspect was found with the wallet owner’s AirTag, a firearms licence, a driver’s licence and a boater’s licence. The woman in question was held in custody pending a court appearance Wednesday.

MAN FOUND WITH HATCHET

Brandon Police Service officers arrested a 21-year-old man on Tuesday morning in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue following a “person’s check.” Police say a records search confirmed the man was wanted on a warrant issued by Oxford House RCMP. While he was being placed in custody, a hatchet was found hidden in his jacket, police allege. The man was released to appear in court in Oxford House on March 20, and in Brandon on April 14.

ARRESTED FOR COCAINE POSSESSION

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a 32-year-old man was arrested after being observed at a business located on Willowdale Crescent. Police confirmed that he was in breach of a bail curfew, and police said the suspect had cocaine and a knife, while his bail order banned him from having illicit drugs and weapons.

He was held in a cell until court on Wednesday morning.
