Man faces additional assault charges
Brandon Police Service (BPS) added new charges for a 41-year-old man who was already being held in detention under an outstanding warrant of arrest, after officers received reports of the man having assaulted and uttered threats against his girlfriend. He was charged on Thursday morning and attended court in the afternoon.
Man, woman arrested for cocaine trafficking
The BPS Organized Crime Section conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation into reported cocaine trafficking by a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in Brandon. As part of the investigation, a traffic stop was conducted east of Brandon on the Trans-Canada Highway, where the male suspect was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and other charges. Officers also found $840 in his possession. Following the arrest, BPS executed a search warrant at an apartment situated on the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue, locating the female co-accused. About 128 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, and a digital scale were found in the unit, and both the accused charged. They were held in detention and attended court on Friday morning.
Intoxicated woman arrested by BPS
Brandon police arrested an inebriated woman, 20, on Thursday night after receiving reports from building security about the woman trying to attack people. Upon arrival at the scene, officers took the woman into custody and for medical clearance. She was held in detention at BPS and will be released once sober and upon receiving a ticket.

Virden RCMP seize drugs, weapons
Law enforcement officers from Virden RCMP arrested two women, aged 31 and 41, and two men, aged 38 and 45, on Tuesday morning during a drug bust at an address on 3rd Avenue South in Virden, according to a press release published on Friday afternoon.
The RCMP has charged Bryon Gardner, 38, of Virden, Rashelle Studer, 41, and Katherine Tomms, 31, of the Rural Municipality (RM) of Wallace-Woodworth for breaking and entering, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime.
In conjunction with animal control officers, Virden RCMP attended the address above and found four individuals who did not have permission to be there. While they observed three people in the living room at first, the fourth person was located in the basement shortly after, according to Friday’s announcement from RCMP.
Officers also found bags of drugs and drug-related paraphernalia on a coffee table, and then discovered more drugs, including illicit pills and related paraphernalia in the possession of the suspects, following which officers prepared and executed a search warrant of the residence.
More drugs were seized during the search, including substances believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, additional drug-related paraphernalia, homemade weapons and knives.
The 45-year-old male accused has been released with a court date of Feb. 7 in Brandon to address similar charges, RCMP said in the news release.

Virden RCMP continues to investigate this matter.
