WOMAN ARRESTED NEAR BRANDON JAIL

A 26-year old woman who had been given a court order to be in Dauphin was arrested Thursday morning near the property of Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC).

A BCC employee called Brandon police Thursday at 10:31 a.m. and reported that a woman was outside the fence line and was circling the area in a vehicle that had British Columbia licence plates.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle in the BCC parking lot and say when they questioned the 26-year-old woman, she gave them two false names. Police were able to determine her identity and discovered that she was the subject of an arrest warrant and a release order that she was to reside in Dauphin.

The woman was charged with identity fraud, obstructing a peace officer, breaching a release order, being impaired and public mischief. She was held overnight in a BPS detention cell for a court appearance Friday morning.

MAN BREACHES PROBATION

On Thursday at 1:30 p.m., security officers from The Town Centre in downtown Brandon called police to report an intoxicated individual causing problems.

When officers arrived, they said they discovered a 37-year-old man who was under a probation order not to be within 200 metres of the area.

The man was arrested, taken to a BPS detention cell to be released once sober, and given a court date of May 22.

ARRESTED ON WARRANTS

Two people were arrested after police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of 10th Street early Friday morning.

Officers pulled the vehicle over at 2:50 a.m. and said they discovered that two passengers, a 30-year-old woman and 30-year-old man, were subjects of arrest warrants.

Police add the woman had three warrants in her name, and the man had two, including a court order that stated he was not to be in contact with someone who was in the vehicle.

Both were arrested, held overnight in BPS headquarters detention cells and released for a Friday morning court appearance.
