INTOXICATED PEOPLE
Two intoxicated people were held at the Brandon Police Service detention cells for separate incidents this week.
Police say that a 49-year-old woman appeared to be fighting the wind while offers conducted a persons check in the first block of Ninth Street on Friday. The woman was found to be highly intoxicated and was held until sober.

A day earlier, police received several calls about a man passed out in front of a business on the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. When they arrived, officers found a 43-year-old man who was highly intoxicated. He was arrested and held until sober.
MINOR THEFT
A man who reportedly stole $50 in meat from a store on the 900 block of Ninth Street will have a May 1 court date.
On Thursday, police received a report of a male who had just left the store after stealing meat. A description was provided and a 29-year-old male was found heading north on Ninth Street. He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and released on an undertaking.
KICKED IN THE FACE
A 46-year-old male faces assault charges after police received an afternoon report on Feb. 27 of an intoxicated male assaulting his partner by kicking her in the face.
BPS officers went to the home on the 400 block of 13th Street, but the man would not let anyone open the door to police. An entry was made by police, who located the intoxicated 46-year-old. Due to a prior assault from the same person with the same victim, a 44-year-old female partner, the man was not released on conditions but instead arrested, held in a detention cell, and was slated to attend court on Feb. 28.
CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Police used footage from a security camera to catch a female suspect in the theft of a power drill.
BPS was called on Thursday afternoon to a business on the 600 block of Rosser Avenue where a power drill had been stolen. Officers got a description of the suspect by watching the security footage, and within 45 minutes of their arrival on scene, the had located the suspect at a business on the 800 block of Pacific Avenue.
A 38-year-old woman was found with the stolen drill in her possession. She was released on scene on an undertaking with a court date of April 17.
The drill was returned to the store.
TRAFFIC STOP, CHASE AND TICKETS
A routine traffic stop turned into a run and pursuit in the late afternoon hours of Thursday, when the vehicle pulled into an alley and the occupants tried to run. Police say they caught all of the occupants, though they didn’t mentioned how many were in the vehicle.
A ticket was issued to the 32-year-old female passenger for open liquor in the vehicle, and she was released.
The driver, a 39-year-old man, was transported to police headquarters where fingerprints were obtained, and he was charged with resisting arrest and handed numerous tickets for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without liability insurance, driving with an invalid licence, failure to stop when requested by a police officer and unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle.
The driver was later released on an undertaking with a court date of May 5.
SUSPECT ARRESTED
While dealing with a separate incident on Thursday, police became aware of an assault that had taken place. Officers re-attended a home on the 900 block of Dennis Street and arrested a 29-year-old male without incident. He was later released on an undertaking with a court date of April 14.
ASSAULT AND MISCHIEF
Police were called to a disturbance at a residence on Aster Crescent on Thursday shortly after 9 p.m., after a report that a 43-year-old male was accused of assaulting his daughter and her friend. He was also accused of smashing each of their phones.
The male had left prior to police arrival, but several hours later, shortly after 1 a.m. police located him in the 700 block of Ninth Street, where he was found intoxicated.
Police arrested the male, and he was held in a detention cell. He was to be released once sober on an undertaking. A court date has been set for May 5.
ILLEGAL SHOPPING
A man faces charges of theft under $5,000 after police caught a suspect trying to get away with stolen alcohol in a shopping cart.
Alarm hits came in from a business on the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue on Friday just before 2 a.m. Outside the business, shopping cart tracks were observed in the snow, and a K-9 unit was called in to conduct a track. The dog led police to a 31-year-old male who had stolen six cases of alcohol from the business, and had them in the shopping cart.
He was arrested, held in a detention cell and was slated to attend court on Friday.
The alcohol was returned to the business.
