MAN FOUND WITH AIR PISTOL
Brandon police were called to a business on the 1300 block of 18th Street North around 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a man who possibly had a gun and refused to leave the washroom.
When they went to the business, police allege, they found a suspect who had a C02 pistol and a knife.
A 39-year-old man was arrested and held in custody to appear in court on Wednesday and faces two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and one of carrying a concealed weapon.
REPORTED EYE STABBING
A 31-year-old man and 31-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with an assault in which the victim may have been stabbed in the eye.
Brandon police say they were called to a “report of an eye stabbing” on the first block of Ninth Street on Tuesday, although their media release didn’t specify whether they had confirmed that was actually the case.
Police say they determined that a 46-year-old woman had been assaulted by two people and they arrested a man and woman nearby on the 900 block of Rosser Avenue. The victim was attended to by ambulance personnel and taken to hospital. Meanwhile, the two suspects were held in custody.
While police say the woman they arrested had a large kitchen knife in the front pocket of her sweater — and describe the incident as one of assault causing bodily harm, possession of a dangerous weapon and failing to comply with a release order (by possessing a weapon) — their media release didn’t specify who had allegedly stabbed the victim (if there was in fact a stabbing) and which accused faces which charges. They also didn’t note the seriousness of the victim’s injuries or condition.
Police didn’t mention whether it’s believed this was a random attack.
Both accused were expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
MAN ALLEGEDLY CHOKED BY EX
Also on Tuesday, police say they were called to the 200 block of 15th Street, where a “highly intoxicated” woman was refusing to leave a man’s residence.
While at the home, police noticed that the man had dried blood on his nose and they were told that the woman — the man’s ex-girlfriend — had elbowed him in the nose and tried to choke him.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested for assault, although police said they expected to release her on conditions once she was sober. Her court date is set for April 17.
