Local singer Julianna Moore has secured a spot on “Canada’s Got Talent,” marking a major milestone in her musical journey after years of persistence.

Originally from St. Lazare, the music teacher is one of the two Manitobans selected to compete in the upcoming season of the national talent competition, airing on March 18 at 8 p.m. Central Daylight Saving Time.

Moore, who has been singing since childhood, shared her excitement about the achievement, emphasizing the significance of perseverance.

“I’ve been singing my whole life,” Moore said. “My dad was the one who got me into it. He was a great singer, and I had my first public performance at seven. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked.”

Moore’s early performances took place on a small talent stage in her hometown. Her passion for music continued to grow, leading her to perform with various choirs and as the lead singer for the Just for Kicks band (J4K), an established group of musicians who have performed together for over a decade.

Her journey to “Canada’s Got Talent” was not without challenges. She applied for three consecutive years without hearing back before finally receiving a call in December 2023, months after submitting her latest audition in August.

“When I got the call, I was so, so excited. It finally felt like things were falling into place,” she said. “I was starting to doubt myself, but this proves that persistence pays off.”

Moore hopes her journey will inspire others to pursue their dreams, regardless of their background.

“I come from a tiny town, and even Brandon is not a huge city,” she said. “But to be selected as one of the two from Manitoba is a big thing. It could be anyone — you just have to keep trying and believing in yourself.”

As she prepares for her moment in the national spotlight, Moore remains focused on growth and new opportunities.

“The music business is hard to break into, but I’m expecting to learn a lot from this experience. There’s always someone who can teach you something, and I’m ready to take it all in.”

With a strong support system behind her, Moore expressed gratitude to her family, friends and fans.

“I just have to thank everyone for all the support — not only in the past few days but throughout my journey,” she said. “From singing in tiny restaurants to bigger stages, I wouldn’t be here without them.”
