Assault with a weapon
A 48-year-old woman faces numerous weapons-related charges after allegedly pulling two knives on a 45-year-old man in the city’s downtown.
On Monday at 7:46 a.m., Brandon police officers responded to the 600 block of Princess Avenue for a report of a man and a woman having an argument outside an establishment. Police say the two were known to each other.
Officers arrested the woman, who they said threatened to stab the man. She was charged with assault with a weapon and two counts each of possessing a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. She was held in a detention cell at Brandon Police Service until a scheduled appearance in court.
Store employee tip leads to arrest
A woman was charged with stealing merchandise from a store in the Corral Centre after an employee called police and provided them with information on a suspect.
On Monday at 9:11 p.m., a staff member of the business called police to say that a woman left the store without paying for about $89 worth of merchandise.
Police were given a description of the woman, the vehicle she left in and the vehicle’s licence-plate number.
Officers went to an address on the 700 block of Ninth Street and said a woman who matched the description was seen running from the back of the residence.
After a short foot chase, she was apprehended and property was recovered, said police. The woman was taken to BPS headquarters, charged with theft under $5,000 and later released with a notice to appear in court June 9.

On Monday, officers said they spotted the suspect in the 600 block of Lorne Avenue and charged him with theft under $5,000. He was released with a scheduled court date of May 12.
