Hey there, time traveller!

A 27-year-old Brandon man accused of first-degree murder in the death of a fellow inmate was already facing charges in the killing of another inmate at Brandon Correctional Centre when the second offence occurred.
Jarrod Lloyd Paul, who is now serving time in Stony Mountain Institution, has been charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of a 23-year-old man at BCC last December.
Three weeks before the killing, Paul was charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of an inmate in the fall of 2024.

Additionally, Paul pled guilty to manslaughter in February of this year in connection with another second-degree murder charge that was laid against him in August 2023 for the stabbing death of a 46-year old man in Brandon. On Aug. 31, 2023, Paul was charged with killing 46-year-old Robert Hall, who was found in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue four days earlier.
When his guilty plea of manslaughter was accepted, he was sentenced to seven years, 11 months and one day behind bars.
Paul’s most recent charge of first-degree murder stems from a call Brandon Police Service received on Dec. 29, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., about a BCC inmate who had seriously assaulted another inmate.
Police say the investigation revealed that the 23-year-old victim was repeatedly punched and kicked by his cellmate.
The victim was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre but succumbed to his injuries.
On Dec. 7, 2024, three weeks earlier, Paul and two other BCC inmates were charged in the beating death of a 44-year-old inmate in September.
Video surveillance from the jail led police to identify the three suspects, who were originally charged with aggravated assault. When the victim died on Nov. 11, Brandon police upgraded the charges against all three, including Paul, to second-degree murder.
In addition to Paul’s first- and second-degree murder charges, court records show he was convicted 16 times between May 2017 and August 2023 for charges ranging from possession of a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, contempt of court, failing to attend court and theft under $5,000.
For the latest allegations against him, Paul is scheduled to make his next court appearance April 1 for three charges — first-degree murder, second-degree murder and assault causing bodily harm.
