THEFT AND UTTERING THREATS

A 46-year-old man faces charges of theft and uttering threats in connection with a call that led police to a residence in the city’s east end.

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Brandon police responded to a residence on the 300 block of Percy Street after a report that a man was threatening someone while trying to get inside the home.

The man was gone when officers arrived, but a suspect was found a short time later. Police allege he had items that were stolen from the complainant.

Further investigation revealed the man had broken two probation orders not to communicate with the complainant or attend their residence.

The man was charged with theft under $5,000 and uttering threats, as well as two counts of breaching probation. He was taken to a Brandon Police Service detention cell for a court appearance on Wednesday.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

An 18-year-old woman was charged with assault with a weapon after police responded to a call about a disturbance on Crocus Crescent Tuesday evening.

Officers arrived after 10 p.m. and were told that the woman had been involved in an assault with a weapon on the previous day. The weapon was identified by police as a wooden rod, with no life-threatening injuries reported.

Police say the woman was highly agitated and not co-operative. She was arrested, held in a BPS detention cell and was to be released with an undertaking and a court date of June 6.

BREACHING THE PEACE

On Tuesday night and in the early hours of Wednesday, Brandon police took four people to detention cells and charged them with breaching the peace while being intoxicated.

On Tuesday at 8:40 p.m., a 20-year-old intoxicated woman was taken from the 2900 block of McDonald Avenue. At 10:40 p.m., an intoxicated 32-year-old man was causing a disturbance in a residence on the 600 block of Eighth Street.
