MAN ACCUSED OF TRYING TO FIGHT POLICE
A 23-year-old man faces numerous charges after allegedly trying to fight police early Tuesday morning.
At 2:25 a.m., Brandon police were called by Paladin Security officers to help remove two individuals who refused to leave the entrance of a business on the 600 block of 18th Street.
One of them attempted to fight police, resisted arrest and was found to have a knife, Brandon Police Service said in a media release.
The man was charged with resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon. He was held in a BPS detention cell for a Tuesday morning court appearance.
Police also issued tickets for trespassing and smoking in a public place.
MAN FOUND SLEEPING INSIDE A VEHICLE
A 31-year-old man was charged after police responded to a complaint about a person who was asleep in someone’s vehicle on the 800 block of Rosser Avenue.
The call came in Sunday at 9:03 a.m. Police say the owner had tried to get the unwelcome guest out of the vehicle before calling for help.
Officers charged the man with breaching the peace and held him in a detention cell.
SUSPECT IN BUSINESS THEFT ARRESTED
At 1:20 a.m. Monday, Brandon police arrested a 40-year-old man who had allegedly stolen money from a business earlier this month and was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant.
Police say video surveillance showed the suspect stealing $1,582 after popping open a till at a business on the 100 block of Fifth Street on April 5.
Police found the man in the 200 block of Fourth Street. He was charged and released with a promise to appear in court June 16.
