Advance voting begins tomorrow.

A spokesperson from Elections Canada is encouraging citizens to check their voting locations as the federal election approaches, with advance voting to run each day from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21.

Marie-France Kenny, media adviser for the Brandon-Souris riding, provided advice to the Sun.

“There are two ways to quickly identify where and when electors will be voting for advanced polls and election day,” said Kenny.

The first, she said, is for citizens to enter their postal code inside the “My voter information” box on www.elections.ca, then click on “Where do I vote?” The website will provide information, including your voting location for the advanced and regular poll.

The second is a Voter Information Card that registered voters receive in the mail. The card will similarly carry all the information needed on where and when to vote.

Advance polls are set to be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

While it is important to check ahead of time, updates may come later, Kenny said. So when the day comes to go to the ballot box, it is important to double-check to confirm nothing has changed, she said.

“As additional advance polling locations may be available in some remote communities, and voting hours may vary, it is important for electors to click on “Where do I vote?” on the www.elections.ca website before they head out.”

Election day is Monday, April 28.
