Taxi takes passenger to police station

Brandon police arrested a 34-year-old woman for possession of methamphetamine after a taxi pulled up to Brandon Police Service headquarters early Thursday morning.

The cab driver arrived at 3:17 a.m. with a highly intoxicated passenger who was unable to provide payment, BPS said in a media release.

Police charged the woman with fraudulently obtaining transportation. When she was searched, police allegedly found five grams of meth, which prompted a charge of possession.

She was held in a detention cell until sober and given a notice to appear in court June 12.

Combative woman charged

A 23-year old Brandon woman was arrested Wednesday evening after police responded to the 1300 block of Fifth Street to deal with a woman causing issues.

Police received the call at 8:52 p.m. about a woman who was “trying to fight everyone,” the media release said.

The woman, who police say was highly intoxicated, was charged with breaching the peace and held in a BPS detention cell until sober.
