Police have charged two Baldur women after executing a search warrant in a drug investigation.

Manitoba First Nations Police Service and RCMP officers entered a building on the 100 block of Oak Creek Lane on Thursday with the help of a canine unit.

Eight people were taken into custody. Six were released without charges.

An unnamed 53-year-old woman was charged with offences tied to trafficking cocaine and unauthorized sale of cannabis, as well as having a prohibited weapon, property obtained by crime and unmarked tobacco. She was released with orders to attend court on June 10.

Rochelle Bardarson, 33, was charged with possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. She was placed into custody.

Seized during Thursday’s search were 40 grams of cocaine, 172 grams of cannabis, $2,465 in currency, brass knuckles and unstamped tobacco.

Members of Swan Lake First Nation voiced concerns last year about drug activity in their community, the MFNPS said in a media release Friday.

MFNPS launched a drug investigation to address the concerns, with officers from its Swan Lake detachment and criminal investigation unit assisted by the RCMP’s integrated law enforcement team.
