Dauphin RCMP made a forced entry to a home Sunday night after a man allegedly assaulted a woman and held another man at gunpoint.
Police went to the home on Jackson Street after they received a call at about 10:05 p.m. about an assault at the residence, RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.
They found a man had barricaded himself inside and would not allow police to enter to check on the well-being of other people inside the home.
Police forced their way in and arrested a Winnipeg man.
Based on their initial investigation, police allege the man had assaulted and threatened a 21-year-old woman and held a 36-year-old man at gunpoint. Both victims are from Dauphin and neither sustained serious injuries, police said.
A search of the home turned up a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and a knife.
While in custody, police allege the suspect damaged the sprinkler system in Dauphin cells and also threatened an officer.
Roland Klyne, 41, was charged with 18 separate offences, including assault and numerous offences involving firearms.
