ARRESTS MADE IN TWO ASSAULT CASES

Brandon police arrested suspects in two separate assault cases earlier this week.

On Monday at 6:30 p.m., a woman told police that she had been kicked by a 31-year-old woman while in the 700 block of Rosser Avenue.

The suspect was found on Tuesday afternoon near the 800 block of Rosser Avenue and charged with assault. She was released with a promise to appear in court on July 7.

On Tuesday at 8:03 p.m., police received a report of an assault between two parents.

Officers attended a residence on Durum Drive and charged a 51-year-old man with assault. He was released and given a court date of July 27.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF MISCHIEF

A 38-year-old woman was charged with public mischief after a traffic stop Tuesday evening.

Brandon police stopped a vehicle at 11:07 p.m. in the 700 block of Princess Avenue. Police say a woman passenger repeatedly gave officers a false name. When officers learned her real name, they discovered she was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court.

She was arrested and held in a police detention cell for a scheduled appearance in court Wednesday morning.

CAUGHT ON VIDEO CAMERA

A Brandon woman was charged with theft under $5,000 after staff at a store on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue reported $100 worth of cosmetics had been stolen Tuesday evening.

Police say the suspect was identified by video surveillance and was arrested at her residence on the 500 block of 11th Street.

The woman had her fingerprints taken and was released with a July 7 court date.
