DI Productions has announced its 13th production, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” showing June 5–7 at 7 p.m. at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in Brandon.

The production retells the biblical story of Joseph, son of Jacob. Gifted with a multicoloured coat by his father, Joseph’s prophetic dreams spark jealousy among his 11 brothers, who sell him into slavery.

Despite hardships in Egypt, where he was wrongly imprisoned, Joseph rises to power by interpreting dreams for Pharaoh, ultimately saving Egypt from famine. When his brothers come seeking food, Joseph tests their character and ultimately forgives them, reuniting the family in a joyful conclusion.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice sung-through musical classic weaves together a colourful blend of musical styles — from pop and rock to calypso and country, organizers said in a news release.

Directed by Linda Kearns of Studio 7 Dance Studio and local educator Nancy Pitcairn, the production features a dynamic cast of more than 60 talented youth and adults from Brandon and the surrounding region. Their passion and dedication bring new life to this timeless story of hope, forgiveness, and triumph.
