Two charged with assault
A man and woman were both charged with assault after Brandon police responded to a report about arguing in a residence on the 1300 block of Princess Avenue.
Police were called on Sunday at 9:24 a.m. by a person who said they could hear screaming and items being thrown around.
When officers arrived, they were told by a man and a woman that each had been assaulted, and had visible injuries on their faces, according to a police news release.
Both people, a 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, were released with a promise to appear in court for their assault charges — June 30 for the man and July 3 for the woman.
Burn ban in Whitehead
The Rural Municipality of Whitehead issued a burn ban on Monday. The ban went into effect immediately.
Under the ban, no burning of any kind is allowed until further notice.
The RM said updates will be available on its Facebook page and website.
