Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their contributions to tourism in western Manitoba?

Tourism Westman has extended the deadline to nominate a person, business or event for this year’s Tribute to Tourism Awards to May 16.

The winners will be announced at the awards gala scheduled for June 11 at The Backyard on Aberdeen in Brandon.

Each nominee who has “made a difference in tourism over the past year will be honoured by their peers and will receive one complimentary ticket to the gala,” said Tourism Westman’s Michelle Frechette in a news release.

There are 10 categories this year, including two for event of the year — one with a budget under $10,000 and the other with a budget over $10,000. Nominations are also being accepted for Brandon event of the year with a budget over $10,000.

Indigenous tourism is being recognized, as is marketing excellence, partnership, employee of the year and volunteer of the year.

The final two categories are for large and small business of the year.
