A Brandon man faces multiple charges after a woman suffered serious injuries from an assault in Dauphin on Sunday.
Dauphin RCMP were called at about 1:15 p.m. to an address on First Avenue NW and found a 37-year-old woman outside the home with serious injuries, RCMP said in a news release on Thursday.
The woman was rushed to hospital and later flown by STARS — a specialized emergency medical helicopter — to Winnipeg for treatment.
RCMP say bystanders gave officers a description of a male suspect, and they began to patrol the area.
Police found a man that matched the description and arrested him.
While in police custody, RCMP say the suspect assaulted an officer.
Brendan Komarnicki, 36, faces charges of aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, and assault while choking, suffocating or strangling.
He is also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault on a police officer and assault on a police officer with a weapon.
Komarnicki was being held in custody.
Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
