Brandon police charged a woman for speeding in an unregistered vehicle while impaired on Wednesday evening.

When officers searched the plates of the vehicle, they found it was not registered.

The 27-year-old driver failed two alcohol screening device tests, police said.

The woman was charged, and her vehicle was seized and towed.

Tenant chased with shovel

Brandon police were called to a disturbance in the city’s downtown in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Around 3 a.m., officers went to the 400 block of 12th Street, where a man was allegedly chasing another tenant with a shovel.

No injuries were sustained and there were no charges.

The man, 25, was removed “to prevent continuation of behaviour,” police said.

He was held in detention cells and was to be released in the morning.

Theft suspect violated curfew

A 28-year-old man faces multiple charges after being picked up by Brandon police.

Police say a suspect in two thefts at a business on the 800 block of First Street was identified via video surveillance.

When officers went to a residence to arrest the suspect, they found he wasn’t home — in violation of a court-ordered curfew.

The suspect was arrested later in the evening during at a traffic stop in the 100 block of College Avenue.

Police say he was wanted on arrest warrants and gave an address that did not match his release order. He was held for court on Thursday morning.
