The Manitoba Liberal Party has announced its candidate in the Spruce Woods byelection.
Stephen Reid, a teacher in the Brandon School Division, will represent the party in the byelection.
Reid has been a lifelong Liberal, and has family members who work for the party, a spokesperson for the Liberals told the Sun.
The party is hosting a campaign launch for Reid at 2 p.m. on Sunday at 1570 Highland Ave. in Brandon.
The Manitoba Progressive Conservative party has approved longtime party volunteer Colleen Robbins to run for the PC nomination in the Spruce Woods byelection. No other potential candidates have been named. The nomination meeting will take place on June 7 at the Wawanesa Centennial Hall between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The NDP didn’t say if the party has picked a candidate.
Premier Wab Kinew has to schedule the byelection for no later than Sept. 24, which is six months after former PC MLA Grant Jackson stepped down to run in the federal election in Brandon-Souris, which he won.
