The federal Conservative party has appointed Riding Mountain MP Dan Mazier as its health critic.

“It’s an honour to take on this significant responsibility,” Mazier said in a press release. “Canadians are waiting too long for care, health-care workers are burnt out and families have lost faith in a system clogged by government gatekeepers. Conservatives are ready to help fix it.”

Mazier’s priorities will include seeing more health-care workers hired, fixing the drug epidemic and getting better access to care for patients, the release said.

“We’ll focus on … developing a pan-Canadian credential recognition program to bring more doctors and nurses into the system by creating nationally recognized licences for trained professionals,” he said.

Mazier previously served as the rural economic development and connectivity critic.

The Sun has reached out to Mazier for an interview on his new position.
