MOM SHIELDS TWO-YEAR-OLD CHILD FROM BEAR SPRAY
A mother and her child were exposed to bear spray at Brandon Shoppers Mall on Saturday morning because of an altercation between two males, police say.
Two unidentified males had an altercation outside a business, and one produced the bear spray and sprayed the other, Brandon police said. At 3:50 p.m., an employee at the mall reported the incident.
Bystanders included a 29-year-old mother and her two-year-old son, who were exposed to the overspray, police reported. The woman shielded her son, minimizing the toddler’s exposure.
The two suspects fled the area before police arrived. Officers found video of the suspects and continue to investigate.
DRAGGED OUT BY HER HAIR
Police said a man dragged a woman out of a hotel room by her hair on Saturday while bound by a court order not to communicate with her.
The incident took place at a west-end hotel, according to police. A 29-year-old man was arrested and held for court.
SUSPICIOUS BIKE ACTIVITY AND BRASS KNUCKLES
After reports that a woman was attempting to steal a bicycle, police say they located a 31-year-old and discovered she was carrying brass knuckles.
Police attended an east-end neighbourhood at 6 a.m. on Saturday for the report. They located a woman and say she was concealing the prohibited weapon. Police charged and released the woman with a court date.
TOOK OFF WITH GROCERIES
Police chased a man and arrested him on Thursday after a report of a shoplifter fleeing with groceries.
An employee reported the theft from a business in the 800 block of 18th Street. Police say they located a man nearby, but he ran from them. Officers caught the man and arrested him, then released him once he was sober, police said. The man was given a September court date.
