• 6:30 p.m. — This is the final night of the season for the City of Brandon’s Open Mic Night on the Fusion Credit Union Stage at the Riverbank Discovery Centre from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dallas Hulley from Brandon Open Mic will be your host.

FRIDAY

• 9 a.m. — The Brandon Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday at The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave.), with seasonal produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, crafts and more until 4 p.m. This farmers’ market runs year-round.

• 11 a.m. — The Rossburn Rodeo and Harvest Festival takes place at the Rossburn Ag grounds. Today: beer gardens; Rossburn Rodeo Slack, Rossburn CCA Rodeo performance, live entertainment by Mike Sacharko Band. Brought to you by the Rossburn Ag Society and the Waywayseecappo First Nation.

• 7 p.m. — Prairie Daisy will be performing at The Firehall (637 Princess Ave.) from 7-9 p.m. Come and enjoy live music with this mother/daughter duo known for their harmonies. • 8 a.m. — The Rossburn Rodeo and Harvest Festival takes place at the Rossburn Ag grounds. Today: gates open at 8 a.m. with a chuckwagon breakfast. • 9 a.m. — The Riverbank Discovery Centre Farmers’ Market takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 525 Conservation Dr. until Sept. 27. Come join us under the trees for an amazing variety of vendors this summer.

• 1 p.m. — It’s Halloween at Sandy Lake! September long weekend is the last weekend at the lake for most families so we are ending summer season with some Halloween activities. Maps will be available Saturday morning at the Co-op.

• 4 p.m. — The International Worship Centre, Brandon invites to you join them at their Summer Community Outreach in Princess Park (818 Princess Ave.) from 4 to 6 p.m. Come join us for an afternoon of worship and prayer while having fun and enjoying free hotdogs. There will be a registration booth, kids’ zone with Bouncy Castle and games, treats corner, food booths and prayer booths.

• 9 p.m. — End of Season party: “Love Our Lake” takes place at the North Hall at Sandy Lake at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. Silent auction, 50/50, door prizes, cash bar and lunch. Dance music and entertainment by Codgadoors.

We will have hot dogs, face painting, bouncy houses ad other goodies and prizes.

• 6:30 p.m. — UCT Bingo takes place every Monday at 205 College Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m., with early-bird start at 6:30 p.m. and regular games at 7:10 p.m. Canteen available. Proceeds stay in Brandon for needs in the community.

• 6:30 p.m. — Women in Harmony rehearses on Mondays at Trinity United Church in Brandon (1515 Sixth St.). • Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 60 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery is “Through my window, there is a view,” with artist Opeyemi Olukotun until Sept. 6. • Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. • Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Summer hours for the museum are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our gallery has new interpretive displays explaining the CATP. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display for aircraft, vehicles, and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial Wall. • Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Our new temporary exhibit, marks the 110th anniversary of the start of the First World War. The main features of the exhibit include a trench wall, First World War artillery and two machine-gun pits. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. • Wasagaming Community Arts (110 Wasagaming Dr.) — We are pleased to announce the opening of our fourth and final exhibition of the 2025 season. Exhibition 4 runs until Sept. 6. This special 55th season finale brings together five artists with deep connections to Wasagaming Community Arts, Clear Lake, and Riding Mountain National Park: Karen Holden, Karen Clark, Kathleen Balejia, Jordan Miller and Robin Rice. Their works celebrate both our region’s natural beauty and the creative spirit that has shaped our community for over five decades.

• Sept. 4 — The last Downtown Cruise Night of the season takes place in downtown Brandon on Rosser Avenue between Sixth Street and 13th Street from 6 to 9 p.m. People wishing to show their vehicles are encouraged to enter the event at the intersection of Rosser Avenue and 13th Street. • Sept. 4 — Wildflower Whiskey, an evening of Smoked Flavours and Fine Spirits will take place at The Backyard on Aberdeen (Unit B 1624 13th Street) from 7 to 9 p.m. Join us for live music with Wildflower Whiskey, the duo of Julianna Moore and Rob Lovatt, great company and signature drinks paired perfectly with smoky flavoured hors d’oeuvres crafted by our culinary team. • Sept. 6 — Come and join us for a Walk with the Dinosaurs in Virden at Ball Diamond A from noon to 4 p.m., Tundra Oil and Gas Place. Experience an exhibit that will keep families entertained and engaged with a magic show, fossil dig, dinosaur mini golf, dino egg photos, baby dinosaurs and more. • Sept. 6 — Festival of Joy will be held at St. Augustine School grounds (330 Third St.). This is a family event of fun, games, sports, music, trivia, food and presentations that highlight the diverse cultures in our community. This event takes place from 1 to 8 p.m. and is free to attend.

• Sept. 6 — Car show at Sand Hills Casino from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event was rescheduled from July 20. Spectators welcome. Free admission.

• Sept. 6 — Pre-season Brandon Wheat King game takes place at the Assiniboine Credit Union Place as they face off against the Regina Pats at 6 p.m. Tickets available at the box office or visit the Brandon Wheat Kings website at chl.ca/whl-wheatkings/

• Sept. 6-7 — Brockie Donovan presents Gossip in the Graveyard, a community fundraiser. Take a step back in time and meet the colourful and inspiring individuals who have helped in shaping the Brandon we know today. The characters of Brandon’s past will literally come to life to tell their tales and offer some juicy bits of gossip to those participants who want to venture through their hallowed resting grounds. Tours: Sept 6 at 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Refreshments to follow. To register call 204-727-0694. Participation is limited. Bring your dog (or walk in memory of a beloved pet) and help raise money for the animals at the Brandon Humane Society. • Sept. 9 — Beginners’ bridge lessons will begin at Seniors for Seniors Centre (311 Park Ave. E.). • Sept. 10 — Suicide Prevention Implementation Network (SPIN) honours World Suicide Prevention Day. Join us from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex (638 Princess Ave.) as we recognize those individuals who are making our community suicide-safer. Light lunch and community resources available. Then join us at 7 p.m. for a Ribbon Tying Ceremony and Vigil starting at Errol Black Park and First Street Bridge, honouring those lost to suicide and offering a space for healing. The evening will include hot chocolate, therapy dogs, support and resources for attendees. To close the day you are invited to join a global tradition in placing a lit candle in a window by 8 p.m. to “Light a Flame of Hope” in remembrance of lives lost and in solidarity with those suffering.

• Sept. 11 — Join us for a free concert from the RCAF Band at the Fusion Credit Union Stage at the Riverbank Discovery Centre at 7 p.m. They will be playing all of your favourite rock, pop and country hits.

• Sept. 11-13 — The Fall Rotary Book Sale will be held in the Imperial Ballroom at the Victoria Inn featuring more than 75,000 books. Free book for every child. Free admission. Hours: Sept. 11, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sept. 12, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sept. 13, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Sept. 12 — Pro Series: Brandon University Homecoming Concert takes place at Lorne Watson Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Brandon’s fall concert season begins with a new music tour-de-force featuring BU alumni and guest musicians from across Canada. Prairie Punk brings composer Nicole Lizee back to her prairie roots to present two brilliant large-ensemble works. • Sept. 12-13 — Gujarati Cultural Forum of Canada presents for the first time in Brandon Cultural na Graba 2025 with Priti Patel in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre. To book tickets, visit All Events.

• Sept. 13 — MADD Brandon & Area is hosting their fifth annual Strides for Change colour run/walk at the Keystone Centre. Run begins at 4:30 p.m. Registration starts at 3 p.m. Arrive by 4 p.m. to sign in and get your dye. There will be a 2.5 km and 5 km option. The event will include food trucks, music, bouncy castles, yoga warm up, prizes and lots of colour! Registration is $25 for adults; $5 for children 2-11 years; under 2 are free.

• Sept. 13 — PrairieCon Fall GamesDay will take place at Brandon University during their Homecoming from noon to 10 p.m. PrairieCon GamesDays are fun, free events where anyone can come by and drop in to play some tabletop games. Bring your board games, run a D&D Game, or bring some minis and run/play a game. Feel free to bring your own games or you are free to just show up and ask to join in. You can find us in the mingling area of the Knowles Douglas Student Union Centre (KSC) Building 8.

• Sept. 13 — A Re-Creation of The Johnny Cash TV Show (Episode 2) will be held at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at the WMCA box office or by calling 204-728-9510.

• Sept. 13 — Come join the fun at the Boissevain Street Fest and enjoy vendor markets, town-wide garage sales, live entertainment, kids carnival, Soapbox Derby (register by Sept. 1 by emailing Gord at lgturner@mts.net), local art show and artist demos, matinee movie, beer gardens and an evening concert.

• Sept. 13 — The 15th annual Kinsmen Ride is a fundraising event where motorcyclists and anyone else can enjoy a day of fundraising to help local volunteer groups and charities make a positive change in our community. This year funds raised through the Kinsmen Ride supports Brandon Bear Clan Patrol and the Westman Hospice Association. Ride starts at Eastside Eatery (1451 Richmond Ave. E.). Registration is between 9 and 10 a.m. and kickstands up at 10 a.m.

• Sept. 13 — Westman Wilderness Club: Join Steffany for a hike to the summit of Turtle’s Back tower at William Lake in the Turtle Mountains. This will be an 8km hike with a strenuous section near the summit. Email steffanypeters@hotmail.com or text 204-523-1821 for details.

• Sept. 13-14 — Crocus Obedience and Kennel Club (COKC) are hosting a Premium List AAC Sanctioned Agility Trial on the COKC Club grounds located at 66th Street and Patricia Ave. W.

• Sept. 14 — The Terry Fox Run in Brandon will get started in front of the Brandon University Library at 10 a.m. with registration at 9 a.m. Participants will go west on Lousie Avenue until 26th Street; turn south until Victoria Avenue; turn west until 34th Street; turn north and follow the bike path until you reach Pacific Avenue; continue on Pacific bike path to 26th Street; turn south at 26th and continue to Louise Avenue; turn east and finish the run at Brandon University. For 1 km turn around at 23rd Street and Louise Ave.; 2 km turn around at 26th Street and Louise Avenue; 5 km is one time around the route; 10 km is running route twice. • Sept. 17 — Magic Men Australia featuring Will Parfitt will take to the stage at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. This is an =18 plus event. • Sept. 20 — Elvis: A Tribute to the King featuring Bruce Andrew Stewart will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8 (540 8 Ave. S. in Virden). Tickets are $24 in advance only. • Sept. 20 — The Apple and Pine Fall Harvest Market takes place in the tent located on the Keystone Centre grounds from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year we are celebrating all things Canadian-made, from cozy harvest fare to handmade goods. Admission is $5 at the door; children 12 and under are free.

• Sept. 20 — “At the Farm Gate” Fall Harvest Market takes place at the Onanole Recreation Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free admission. Featuring regional and local goods, arts, farm produce and baked goods.

• Sept. 20 — The United Way presents Brandon’s Largest Garage Sale 2025 Fall Edition will be held in the Keystone Centre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission: $3 (children 12 and under are free).
