TODAY

6 p.m. — The last Cruise Night in Downtown Brandon of the season takes place on Rosser Avenue between Sixth Street and 13th Street from 6 to 9 p.m. People wishing to show their vehicles are encouraged to enter the event at the intersection of Rosser Avenue and 13th Street. 7 p.m. — Wildflower Whiskey, an evening of Smoked Flavours and Fine Spirits, will take place at The Backyard on Aberdeen (Unit B, 1624 13th St.) from 7 to 9 p.m. Join us for live music with Wildflower Whiskey, the duo of Julianna Moore and Rob Lovatt, great company and signature drinks paired perfectly with smoky-flavoured hors d’oeuvres crafted by our culinary team. 9 a.m. — The Brandon Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday at The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave.), with seasonal produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, crafts and more until 4 p.m. This farmers’ market runs year-round.

SATURDAY

9 a.m. — The Riverbank Discovery Centre Farmers’ Market takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 525 Conservation Dr. until Sept. 27. Come join us under the trees for an amazing variety of vendors this summer.

9 a.m. — Car show at Sand Hills Casino from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event was rescheduled from July 20. Spectators welcome. Free admission.

Noon — Come and join us for a Walk with the Dinosaurs in Virden at Ball Diamond A, Tundra Oil and Gas Place, from noon to 4 p.m. Experience an exhibit that will keep families entertained and engaged with a magic show, fossil dig, dinosaur mini golf, dino egg photos, baby dinosaurs and more. 1 p.m. — Festival of Joy will be held at St. Augustine School grounds (330 Third St.). This is a family event of fun, games, sports, music, trivia, food and presentations that highlight the diverse cultures in our community. This event takes place from 1 to 8 p.m. and is free to attend.

1 p.m. — The RM of Sifton presents the Fourth Annual Harvest Festival at the Oak Lake Agricultural grounds from 1 to 6 p.m. Join us for a day of fun and entertainment for all ages. Day events include a Canine Circus, heavy truck and car show, horse wagon rides, kids zone, Haulin’ Axe, Monster Truck rides, farmers’ market, treat truck, lawn mower pull contest and much more. Live music in the evening with Pop Vegas. Beer gardens hosted by the Oak Lake Fire Department. Karaoke and Bingo, too. Admission $10 for adults; kids are free.

5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. — Brockie Donovan presents Gossip in the Graveyard, a community fundraiser. Take a step back in time and meet the colourful and inspiring individuals who have helped in shaping the Brandon we know today. The characters of Brandon’s past will literally come to life to tell their tales and offer some juicy bits of gossip to those participants who want to venture through their hallowed resting grounds. 7:30 p.m. — Welcome back to Old Tyme Dances for the fall and winter season. Steppin’ Out Dance will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion No. 3 from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. with live music by Northern Reflections. Light lunch served. All are welcome. 10 a.m. — Join us for the 22nd annual Wag-a-Tail Walk-a-Thon at Kin Park (201 Aberdeen Ave.) Walk takes place from 10 a.m. to noon with a free barbecue with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Bring your dog (or walk in memory of a beloved pet) and help raise money for the animals at the Brandon Humane Society. Pledge forms available from Brandon Humane Society, Brandon Hills Vet Clinic, A Pet Lover’s Warehouse, Pet Valu (Keystone Village and Corral Centre), and Best West Pet Foods.

Noon — Road Rebels Brandon present The Cal Jackson Memorial Car Show and Pie Auction (renamed to honour our member who left us too soon) at Dinsdale Park (First Street North) from noon to 4 p.m. Please come and pay tribute to a great car guy, husband and father. DJ/emcee will be Double Clutchin’ Dave. Barbecue. We are looking for homemade pies for our professional auctioneer, Bill Bawtinhimer, to get you to raise your arm and take home a great tasting pie. We will also be auctioning off fresh produce and other baked goods. Proceeds go to the Elspeth Reid Family Resource Centre.

6:30 p.m. — Women in Harmony rehearses on Mondays at Trinity United Church in Brandon (1515 Sixth St.). 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.— Suicide Prevention Implementation Network (SPIN) honours World Suicide Prevention Day. Join us from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex (638 Princess Ave.) as we recognize those individuals who are making our community suicide-safer. Light lunch and community resources available. Then join us at 7 p.m. for a ribbon-tying ceremony and vigil starting at Errol Black Park and the First Street bridge, honouring those lost to suicide and offering a space for healing. The evening will include hot chocolate, therapy dogs, support and resources for attendees. To close the day you are invited to join a global tradition in placing a lit candle in a window by 8 p.m. to “Light a Flame of Hope” in remembrance of lives lost and in solidarity with those suffering.

Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 60 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery is “Through my window, there is a view,” with artist Opeyemi Olukotun until Monday. In the Kayes Community Gallery is “I couldn’t have done it without you” from the Free Flow Artist Collective, on until Oct. 4. Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. Our Show & Tell Series returns with a presentation by Doug Derksen titled “Nightscape.” Join us on Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. for what is sure to be an unforgettable afternoon. Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Summer hours for the museum are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our gallery has new interpretive displays explaining the CATP. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display for aircraft, vehicles, and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial Wall. Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Discover “WWII Command Posts,” a temporary exhibit at the RCA Museum, showcasing Canada’s mobile command vehicles and their role in coordinating artillery and communications during the Second World War. Wasagaming Community Arts (110 Wasagaming Dr.) — We are pleased to announce the opening of our fourth and final exhibition of the 2025 season. Exhibition 4 runs until Monday. This special 55th season finale brings together five artists with deep connections to Wasagaming Community Arts, Clear Lake, and Riding Mountain National Park: Karen Holden, Karen Clark, Kathleen Balejia, Jordan Miller and Robin Rice. Their works celebrate both our region’s natural beauty and the creative spirit that has shaped our community for more than five decades.

Sept. 12 — Pro Series: Brandon University Homecoming Concert takes place at Lorne Watson Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Brandon’s fall concert season begins with a new music tour-de-force featuring BU alumni and guest musicians from across Canada. Prairie Punk brings composer Nicole Lizee back to her Prairie roots to present two brilliant large-ensemble works. Sept. 12-13 — Gujarati Cultural Forum of Canada presents for the first time in Brandon Cultural na Graba 2025 with Priti Patel in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre at 6 p.m. each night. To book tickets, visit All Events.

Sept. 12-14 — Select Shows brings its Fall Fair to the Keystone Centre grounds in the south parking lot. Visitors can expect classic midway rides, exciting games and a wide variety of food concessions offering everything from candy apples to mini-donuts. Unlimited ride wristbands will be available for purchase. Individual ride tickets will also be sold on-site. Admission to the grounds is free. Open Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.; Sept. 13 and 14 at noon.

Sept. 13 — MADD Brandon & Area is hosting its fifth annual Strides for Change colour run/walk at the Keystone Centre. Run begins at 4:30 p.m. Registration starts at 3 p.m. Arrive by 4 p.m. to sign in and get your dye. There will be a 2.5 km and 5 km option. The event will include food trucks, music, bouncy castles, yoga warm up, prizes and lots of colour. Registration is $25 for adults; $5 for children 2-11 years; under 2 are free.

Sept. 13 — PrairieCon Fall GamesDay will take place at Brandon University during their Homecoming from noon to 10 p.m. PrairieCon GamesDays are fun, free events where anyone can come by and drop in to play some tabletop games. Bring your board games, run a D&D Game, or bring some minis and run/play a game. Feel free to bring your own games or you are free to just show up and ask to join in. You can find us in the mingling area of the Knowles Douglas Student Union Centre (KSC) Building 8.

Sept. 13 — A Re-Creation of The Johnny Cash TV Show (Episode 2) will be held at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at the WMCA box office or by calling 204-728-9510.

Sept. 13 — Come join the fun at the Boissevain Street Fest and enjoy vendor markets, town-wide garage sales, live entertainment, kids carnival, Soapbox Derby (register by Sept. 1 by emailing Gord at lgturner@mts.net), local art show and artist demos, matinee movie, beer gardens and an evening concert.

Sept. 13 — The 15th annual Kinsmen Ride is a fundraising event where motorcyclists and anyone else can enjoy a day of fundraising to help local volunteer groups and charities make a positive change in our community. This year, funds raised through the Kinsmen Ride support Brandon Bear Clan Patrol and the Westman Hospice Association. Ride starts at Eastside Eatery (1451 Richmond Ave. East). Registration is between 9 and 10 a.m. and kickstands up at 10 a.m.

Sept. 13 — Westman Wilderness Club: Join Steffany for a hike to the summit of Turtle’s Back tower at William Lake in the Turtle Mountains. This will be an eight-kilometre hike with a strenuous section near the summit. Email steffanypeters@hotmail.com or text 204-523-1821 for details.

Sept. 13-14 — Crocus Obedience and Kennel Club (COKC) is hosting a Premium List AAC Sanctioned Agility Trial on the COKC Club grounds located at 66th Street and Patricia Ave. West. Trials get underway at 9 a.m. daily.

Sept. 14 — The 45th annual Terry Fox Run is taking place at the Brandon University. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the run starts at 10 a.m. at the courtyard in front of the university library. We have 1 km, 2 km, 5 km and 10 km routes to run, walk, stroll or bike. A bit of something for everyone to raise funds to support cancer research. Terry Fox started a marathon to end cancer, and today we can help him “finish it.” Register online at terryfox.org or at the run site.

Sept. 16 — Charity Barbecue and Car Show will take place at the Co-op Marketplace (1035 Richmond Ave.) from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Show vehicles can park on the east side of the parking lot. One hundred per cent of the donations and sales from the barbecue will be donated to the Pediatric Ward at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. This event is sponsored by Heritage Co-op and Memory Lane car club. Free entry to all show vehicles and motorcycles. Sept. 17 — Magic Men Australia featuring Will Parfitt will take to the stage at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. This is an 18-plus event.
