A retirement party for former Brandon-Souris MP Larry Maguire is planned for the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum this Saturday.
The celebration of the career of the longtime politician is set to start at 5 p.m., with limited tickets left, said current Brandon-Souris MP Grant Jackson.
“It should be a very nice evening celebrating a remarkable career,” Jackson said. “People can expect great food, some good reminiscing on Larry’s outstanding career as a farm and agricultural advocate, and then as a provincial MLA and later member of Parliament.”

Maguire served as MP from 2013 until his sudden retirement ahead of the 2025 election. He also served as the MLA for Arthur-Virden from 1999 until 2013.
“He’s a remarkable man that has done a great deal of good for a lot of people,” said Jackson said, who called Maguire a “great mentor” for him. “It’s important to celebrate those types of milestones when they come about.”
Tickets are on sale for $125 each, which includes a meal, entertainment and a meet and greet. The ticket counts as a political contribution, Jackson said, and people will get a tax receipt.
Those wanting to purchase tickets can do so by emailing votegrantjackson@gmail.com.
