Day — Boissevain Street Fest featuring vendor markets, town-wide garage sales, live entertainment, kids carnival, Soapbox Derby, local art show and artist demos, matin ée movie, beer gardens and an evening concert.

This year, funds raised support Brandon Bear Clan Patrol and the Westman Hospice Association. Ride starts at Eastside Eatery (1451 Richmond Ave. East). Registration is between 9 and 10 a.m. and kickstands up at 10 a.m.

4:30 p.m. — MADD Brandon & Area hosts its fifth annual Strides for Change colour run/walk at the Keystone Centre. Registration starts at 3 p.m. Arrive by 4 p.m. to sign in and get your dye. There will be a 2.5 km and 5 km option. The event will include food trucks, music, bouncy castles, yoga warmup, prizes and lots of colour. 3:30 p.m. — Charity Barbecue and Car Show at the Co-op Marketplace (1035 Richmond Ave.) until 6 p.m. Show vehicles can park on the east side of the parking lot. One hundred per cent of the donations and sales from the barbecue will be donated to the pediatric ward at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 60 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery is “Through my window, there is a view,” with artist Opeyemi Olukotun until Monday. In the Kayes Community Gallery is “I couldn’t have done it without you” from the Free Flow Artist Collective, on until Oct. 4. Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. Our Show & Tell Series returns with a presentation by Doug Derksen titled “Nightscape” Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. These presentations are by donation, and we recommend you RSVP. Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our gallery has new interpretive displays explaining the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display for aircraft, vehicles, and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial Wall. Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Discover “WWII Command Posts,” a temporary exhibit at the RCA Museum, showcasing Canada’s mobile command vehicles and their role in coordinating artillery and communications during the Second World War.
