SWAN RIVER RCMP SEIZE DRUGS, CASH

Two Swan River women were arrested early Thursday morning after a traffic stop led to RCMP seizing illicit drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Swan River RCMP stopped a vehicle at around midnight on Main Street.

While officers were speaking with the driver, they saw open liquor inside the vehicle in plain view and arrested the driver and passenger, RCMP said in a news release.

Officers searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, other illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of Canadian cash, the release said.

The 29-year-old driver and 28-year-old passenger were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both women were released on conditions with pending court dates.

Swan River RCMP continues to investigate.

EMPLOYEE ACCUSED OF THEFT

An employee at a business in the Corral Centre was arrested after he allegedly pocketed a transaction of more than $1,000.

The staff member who made the report said the male employee had processed a transaction of almost $1,200, but instead of putting the cash in the till, he kept it for himself, Brandon Police Service said in a news release Thursday.

Police arrested a 21-year-old man and charged him with theft under $5,000. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in November.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Brandon Police Service arrested a man after a woman said she was tackled by her ex-boyfriend before he stole her phone on Wednesday.

Police were sent to a residence at around 8 a.m. and found a 43-year-old woman with a bump on her head and abrasions on her knee, BPS said in a news release.

The woman declined medical attention, police said.

The man left before police arrived, and they couldn’t find him.

The woman contacted police at around 11 a.m. and said the man had returned and was banging on her door.

When officers got to the residence, they arrested a 40-year-old man without incident and charged him with assault and theft under $5,000.

He was released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled in November.
