A 77-year-old Brandon woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in the RM of Whitehead on Saturday.
Brandon RCMP were sent to the collision at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Provincial Road 250 at around 8:50 p.m.
When officers got to the scene, they saw a truck and an SUV in the grass centre median with “heavy damage,” RCMP said in a news release Monday.

Police said the SUV was southbound on Provincial Road 250 and entered the intersection when a truck travelling west on the Trans-Canada Highway hit the SUV on the driver’s side, police said.
Emergency medical services transported the woman who was driving the SUV and a 78-year-old male passenger to the hospital with critical injuries, police said. Both are from Brandon.
The driver died from her injuries and the passenger remained in the hospital as of Monday afternoon.
The 23-year-old woman who was driving the truck and her passenger, a 20-year-old woman — both from Brandon — were not physically injured, police said.
Police said they don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
Brandon RCMP and an RCMP forensic collision reconstructionist continue to investigate.
