BRANDON UNIVERSITY

BU Teachings House will feature a discussion on the fall equinox today, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Gathering Space of the John E. Robbins Library. Brandon University Knowledge Keepers will discuss the change of season as a time of gratitude, reflection and preparation for cooler weather. All are invited to attend.

Brandon University is the site for the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation National Conference from Tuesday to Friday. Researchers, policymakers and community leaders from across Canada will discuss rural information and transformation. More information is available at CRRF2025.org.

A pair of Indigenous Arts Speaker Series events will take place at BU this month. Cheryl L’Hirondelle, an award-winning singer-songwriter, music producer and artist will speak at the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art on Thursday at 7 p.m. Her songs focus on sharing the Cree language and Indigenous and contemporary song-writing forms, along with personal narrative songwriting methodologies. On Sept. 29, artist KC Adams will speak at 11:30 a.m. in Room 206 of Clark Hall. Based in Winnipeg, Adams has had several solo and group photo exhibitions, with 20 pieces of her Cyborg Hybrid series in the permanent collection of the National Art Gallery in Ottawa. All are welcome at these events.

Hamid Mumin of BU’s Department of Geology will present this week’s Science Seminar Series talk on Friday at 2:30 p.m., in Room 4-47 of the John R. Brodie Science Centre. This week’s topic will be the impact of evolutionary earth changes on global temperature and CO2.

Both BU soccer teams are on the road this week, playing in Winnipeg on Saturday and Otterburne on Sunday. They will return home for matches on Oct. 4-5.

The Assiniboine Students’ Association is hosting an Orange Shirt Day event on Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at all campus locations. Visit assiniboinestudents.ca/events for more details.

The Assiniboine/BU Medical Walk-In Service is once again available to students. These clinics offer a wide range of medical services, with a nurse practitioner on site.
