DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Brandon Police Service arrested a woman on Wednesday for domestic assault.

A 26-year-old man phoned police just before 9 p.m. to report that his girlfriend had punched, kicked, pushed and scratched him, BPS said in a news release Thursday.

When the man started to make the call, the woman left, police said.

Police met with the man and noticed visible signs of an assault, including scratches and discolouration, the release said.

The man later called police again to tell them the woman had returned.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old woman and charged her with assault. She was held in custody overnight at the police station and was set to be released on an undertaking on Thursday morning.

The woman is scheduled to appear in court in December.

BREACH OF PEACE

A man who was allegedly damaging property and shouting from a rooftop was arrested early Thursday morning.

Brandon Police Service received two calls at around 1 a.m. about an intoxicated man who was breaking things and punching holes in the wall at a house on the 1100 block of Seventh Street.

Not long after, the man was on the roof, where he continued his erratic behaviour, police said in a news release Thursday.

When officers arrived at the residence, the man was back inside the house, and they arrested him for breach of peace.

The man was held in detention cells at BPS, and police planned to release him later Thursday morning once he sobered up and calmed down.

CYCLIST HIT IN COLLISION

Brandon Police Service is following up on a collision that knocked over a cyclist on Wednesday, leaving him with a laceration on his head.

A woman driving a vehicle southbound near 21st Street and Van Horne Avenue hit a 54-year-old man on his bicycle, causing him to fall to the ground and cut his head, police said in a news release Thursday.

The man was able to walk to the stretcher after Brandon Fire and Emergency Services arrived. He was transported to the hospital for assessments and medical care, police said.

A witness saw the collision, police said.

AIR MUSEUM HOURS CHANGE

As of Oct. 1, Brandon’s air museum will be changing the times it is open to the public.

The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum at the Brandon Municipal Airport is switching to winter hours, staying open seven days a week from 1-4 p.m.

The museum will remain open until Nov. 11, when the public is invited to a free open house for Remembrance Day.

Weather permitting, the museum will reopen April 1, 2026 from 1-4 p.m.

The CATPM is Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War.
