BRANDON UNIVERSITY

Brandon University has several activities planned for Truth and Reconciliation Week. Among them are a pair of guest talks today. KC Adams is the guest for an Indigenous Arts Speaker Series event today at 11:30 a.m., in Room 206 of Clark Hall. Based in Winnipeg, Adams has had several solo and group photo exhibitions, with 20 pieces of her Cyborg Hybrid series in the permanent collection of the National Art Gallery in Ottawa. At 3:30 p.m. today, Eloy Terena, the vice-minister of Brazil’s Ministry of Indigenous Peoples will speak in the Gathering Space of the John E. Robbins Library. The topic will be exploring Brazilian and Canadian research partnerships for the betterment of Indigenous peoples. Both of these events are open to everyone. Truth and Reconciliation Week will also include an intention ceremony at the Turtle Ceremonial Fire Pit on Friday between noon and 1 p.m. Participants will offer tobacco to state their intentions for the upcoming season.

Brandon University will be closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Tuesday. Everyone is encouraged to take part in community events at the Riverbank Discovery Centre.
