An ambulance transported the woman to Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Police allege that the woman’s 28-year-old son assaulted her with what is believed to be a bicycle seat post after a dispute, BPS said in a news release Thursday.
As a result, the woman had a cut on her face, a swollen eye and a sore jaw, police said.
No broken bones were reported.
Roughly an hour later, police found and arrested the suspect, and he was transported to BPS detention cells.
He faces charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
BPS continues to investigate the matter.
HISTORIC SEXUAL ASSAULT
Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Tuesday after a report of a historic sexual assault.
BPS Toba Centre for Children and Youth received a report in May that a man had sexually assaulted his daughter when she was six years old, police said in a news release Wednesday. She is now 15 years old.
The police investigation led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man.
He was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.
The man was held in BPS detention cells and appeared in court on Wednesday.
ASSAULT CHARGE
A man who allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face was arrested on Wednesday.
Brandon Police Service received a report about an assault in the 2300 block of Ottawa Avenue at around 9:30 p.m., police said in a news release.
Officers arrested the man and charged him with assault. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
