The child was transported to the hospital and taken into care by Child and Family Services, BPS said in a news release.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with failing to provide the necessities of life. He was later released with a court appearance scheduled in December.

Forged prescription

Brandon Police Service arrested a man after he allegedly altered a prescription order on Friday.

Walmart pharmacy reported that the man had dropped off a prescription order with the amount of medication altered, which was confirmed through the pharmacy calling the doctor, BPS said in a news release.

Officers arrested the 52-year-old man when he returned to pick up his prescription and charged him with forgery and using a forged document, police said.

The man was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in January 2026.

Employee assaulted

Brandon Police Service arrested a woman after she allegedly punched a business employee on Saturday.

BPS received a call about a woman causing a disturbance at a business on the 1600 block of 18th Street at around 3 p.m.

The woman allegedly punched a staff member in the face, leaving no significant injury, police said.

Officers arrested the 34-year-old woman and charged her with assault. She was held in custody until she was sober and released on an undertaking.

Forcible confinement

A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a woman and refusing to let her leave the residence.

Brandon Police Service was called to a home on the 100 block of 12th Street East for an unknown situation at around 5:15 p.m.

A woman at the residence told officers that a man had assaulted her, threatened her and wouldn’t let her leave, police said in a news release.

Police arrested a 46-year-old man and charged him with forcible confinement, assault and uttering threats. He was later released on an undertaking.

Driver sprayed

A 15-year-old girl was arrested on Saturday after Brandon Police Service received a call that two females refused to pay their ride-service fare and sprayed the driver with an unknown substance.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Third Street at around 11 p.m. after the pair allegedly fled into a residence, police said in a news release.

Police arrested the teen and charged her with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon and fraudulently obtaining transportation.

The second suspect was still outstanding as of Saturday afternoon, police said.

Unauthorized firearm

Brandon Police Service arrested a man and woman early Monday morning after officers allegedly found a rifle in their vehicle.

Police stopped a vehicle in the 1600 block of Lorne Avenue at around 3 a.m. when they saw a high-powered rifle between the front seats, BPS said in a news release.

Both the man and woman said the firearm was for hunting purposes, despite neither of them having a valid firearms licence, the release said.

Police seized the rifle.

After further checks, police found that the man was driving while his driver’s licence was suspended. The vehicle was seized and impounded.
