10 a.m. — As part of the Halloween Hop, Alternative Choice Garden Centre (34th Street and Patricia Avenue) has a Boo For a Cause family-friendly Halloween event running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring a haunted greenhouse selfie station, storybook corner and game zone with Yardzee, Tic-Tac-Toe and more. Family pass $10 with 100 per cent of proceeds to Westman Dreams for Kids.

10 a.m. — As part of the Halloween Hop, The Green Spot (1451 Rosser Ave.) has created a Halloween Straw Bale Maze. Get lost in fall fun with 300 bales of twists and turns, spooky surprises and community spirit. Runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is a $5 donation to Habitat For Humanity, Brandon chapter.

1:30 p.m. — Taoist Tai Chi meets every Thursday afternoon at Trinity United Church (1515 Sixth St.) until 3 p.m.

5 p.m. — Join us at WIS Multicultural Centre (403 13th St.) for Global Café Meet Up every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Hang out, laugh, snack and join a chill mix of games, music, crafts and surprises. Just some good fun. For more information, visit Westman Immigrant Services.

6 p.m. — The annual Halloween Hop continues today at Livingstone Outdoor (1619 Byng Ave.) from 6 to 10 p.m. Haunted House with eerie rooms, special effects and jump scares. Admission $10 for ages 12 and up; $7 for children under 12 with proceeds to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westman and Habitat for Humanity.

7 p.m. — The Brandon University Symphonic Band Concert 2025 will be held at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. They will be joined by the Vincent Massey Senior Band, the Dauphin Senior Concert Band and other high school students from across western Manitoba. 7 p.m. — Come and celebrate Halloween at T-Birds (2740 Currie Blvd.) with spooky, true crime, horror-themed trivia from 7 to 9 p.m. Prizes for first, second and third place. FRIDAY

8 a.m. — Manitoba Ag Ex continues at the Assiniboine Credit Union Agricultural Centre inside the Keystone Centre. Party in the Dirt, featuring Prairieline Band, will take place at 8 p.m. This will be a night filled with country music, dancing and Halloween fun. This is an 18+ event. Tickets $10.

9 a.m. — The Brandon Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday at The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave.) with seasonal produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, crafts and more until 4 p.m. This market runs year-round.

11:45 a.m. — United Way is hosting a Spookghetti Luncheon — Community Lunch at the Victoria Inn from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Games and prizes, 50/50 draw, raffle table and the thrilling return of Expressions Entertainment. Costumes are encouraged — festive spirit mandatory.

1:30 p.m. — Central Senior Dances take place at the Central Community Centre (529 Fourth St.) every Friday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Music by Prairie Fire. Coffee and cookies to follow. 5 p.m. — Scare Away Hunger at Cedar Bay in Brandon tonight. This is a must-see for all those who enjoy the thrills of Halloween. Cedar Hollow offers full scare hours from 5 to 9 p.m. This event is a food drive for Samaritan House Ministries, so please bring a non-perishable item for donation.

6 p.m. — Bethel Brandon (440 Richmond Ave.) will be hosting a Fall Carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a family-friendly, free event. Everyone is welcome. Activities include carnival games, bouncy castle, hotdogs, tons of candy as well as cotton candy and popcorn.

6 p.m. — Memphis Rider: Tributes to Elvis, George Jones and Conway Twitty take place in the Playmakers Lounge at the Canad Inns featuring the one and only Eric McCauley. Showtime is 6 p.m. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. — The Brandon University Bobcats volleyball teams host Mount Royal University for their home opener at the Healthy Living Centre (2010 Louise Ave.) Women’s game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 7:45 p.m. The evening will be filled with special Halloween activities.

7:30 p.m. — “Meet The Barbarians” is playing at the Evans Theatre (Brandon University). Admission is $7. Cash only. All concession items $2.

SATURDAY

10 a.m. — It’s the Nightmare Knockout dodgeball tournament at the Assiniboine Community College Gym (1430 Victoria Ave. East) until 3 p.m. Join us for a fun-filled Halloween-themed dodgeball tournament.

11 a.m. — The Green Spot (1451 Rosser Ave.) is thrilled to welcome Santa Claus for a special early visit today and tomorrow. He will be joining us for the first batch of festive photos sessions with the talented Cynthia Korman both days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Two professional photos per sitting. Tickets are $25 plus tax and are available at the till. It’s pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends, too. Also taking place Dec. 6 and Dec. 14.

10 a.m. — All I Want For Christmas ninth annual craft sale will take place in the Imperial Ballroom at the Victoria Inn (552 34th St.) until 3 p.m. We will have a wide range of more than 50 businesses providing something for everyone. Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 60 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery are two exhibitions: “8 Rooms,” featuring the animated film by Anita Lebeau, and seven other Manitoba artists, and “Ancestral Aviators,” by Kevin Conlin on display until Nov. 22. “Healing For The Broken Hearted,” features art from inside Manitoba’s prisons, sponsored by the Manitoba Multifaith Council Justice and Corrections Committee, on display in the Kayes Community Gallery until Dec. 13. Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Open seven days a week from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum will remain open until Remembrance Day (Nov. 11) with a free open house and reopen again on April 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. Our gallery has new interpretive displays explaining the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display for aircraft, vehicles and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial Wall. Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Discover “WWII Command Posts,” a temporary exhibit at the RCA Museum, showcasing Canada’s mobile command vehicles and their role in co-ordinating artillery and communications during the Second World War. Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney) — Killarney-Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. UPCOMING EVENTS

Nov. 6 — No Stone Left Alone Ceremony will take place at the Brandon Municipal Cemetery Cenotaph at 10 a.m. Students from St. Augustine’s School, Riverheights School, Western Canada Hockey Academy and École Harrison will take part in a special ceremony and will be placing poppies on every soldier’s headstone in the Fields of Honour at the Brandon cemetery. We also have approximately 30 soldiers taking part.

Nov. 6 — Westman Gardeners are meeting at Central Community Club for a presentation on Succulents Unlimited. Take a look inside the world of international trade and innovation in plant starter materials focusing on an organization with roots in Holland, farms in Kenya and a connection right here in Brandon. Succulents Unlimited provides thousands of plant cuttings to greenhouses and nurseries throughout North America and the world on a weekly basis. Trace the journey of your favourite succulents, tropical foliage and ornamental plants from mother plants in Africa to growers in Canada and learn about some of the newest items coming to the market. Guests are welcome for a $5 fee.

Nov. 6 — The Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (1035 First St. North) invite you to “Sweet Affair,” a new event celebrating creativity, skill, and the sweet artistry of our culinary students. Enjoy and array of sweet desserts and specialty beverages, all handcrafted by our talented students. Cost is $45 per person. Limit of four tickets per person. Nov. 6-9 — The Wheat City Kennel Club is having its annual dog show at the Keystone Centre in the Canada Room. Shows start at around 9 a.m. each day. There will be obedience trial and rally trial each day as well as conformation shows each of the four days. We welcome the public to come and watch and visit with the professional and experience breeders.

Nov. 7 — The Global Café at the Westman Immigrant Services (WIS) Multicultural Centre (403 13th St.) hosts Taste of the World from 5 to 7 p.m. Hands-on cooking, tasting and sharing global flavours. This month’s class is Mexico and Enchiladas. Cost is $50 per class. Register at buff.ly/zajH2dY.

Nov. 8 — The Manitoba Archaeological Society is hosting an Artifact Identification Clinic at the Victoria Inn (3550 Victoria Ave.) from 2-4 p.m. Our team of archaeologists and experts will be on hand to help identify your finds, answer questions and share insight about their historical and cultural significance. Nov. 8 — Brandon General Museum and Archives’ Show and Tell presentation: His Geological World.
