DRUGS AND WEAPONS FOUND
Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Wednesday after police found drugs and weapons during a traffic stop.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Pacific Avenue at around 11 p.m. and found that the driver, a 22-year-old man, had a warrant out for his arrest.
Police arrested the man and during a search found a small amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl along with scales, baggies and phones, BPS said in a news release.
Police also found a machete and bear spray, the release said.
The man was charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a weapon, five counts of failure to comply with a release order and three counts of failure to comply with an undertaking.
The man was held in custody until his scheduled court appearance on Thursday.
WOMAN ASSAULTED
Brandon Police Service arrested a woman on Thursday after she allegedly punched another woman in the face.
Police were called to a disturbance outside of a business on Willowdale Crescent at around 9:30 p.m.
A woman allegedly tried to de-escalate a situation between a man and woman, but the woman ended up punching her in the face twice and the man punched her boyfriend in the face once, BPS said in a news release.
While the boyfriend didn’t want to pursue charges, the woman did, police said.
Police arrested a 37-year-old suspect who was walking in the area and charged her with assault.
She was later released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled in January 2026.
Brandon Fire and Emergency Services came to the scene as well to address minor injuries.
