Mounties arrested a Gilbert Plains man on Thursday after a lengthy search and chase near Keld.
Dauphin RCMP received information that a wanted man was near Keld, which is roughly 27 kilometres from Dauphin.
RCMP officers from Dauphin, Ste. Rose du Lac and Roblin detachments, along with the Manitoba West District crime reduction enforcement team and RCMP police dog services, went to the area to search for the man, RCMP said in a news release on Friday.
After an extensive search, the man was spotted near a gravel pit, and he was seen running into a wooded area, the release said.
RCMP employed police dogs along with a drone to continue tracking the suspect through “thick brush and a deep river,” police said.
After three hours of searching, officers arrested Jordy Robertson and took him into custody.
Robertson faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, flight from a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and mischief over $5,000.
He also faces three counts each of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order.
Dauphin RCMP continues to investigate.
