Identity fraud
Brandon Police Service arrested and charged a 28-year-old male suspect with fraud over $5,000 and identity fraud.
The police, in April, received a complaint from the victim after he had discovered that his roommate had allegedly used his identity to fraudulently obtain a loan for $7,000 in his name.
An investigation revealed the roommate had allegedly falsified documents to receive the loan. The man was released on an undertaking to appear in court in January.
Assault with a weapon
A 20-year-old male was arrested and charged for assault with a weapon.
Officers were called to a taxi in the 200 block of Second Street on Saturday night after a passenger was attacked with bear spray while sitting in the back seat of the cab.
The suspect was known to the victim and was last seen running from the area and entering a nearby house.
He was arrested without incident and later released with a court date.
Items taken from damaged cars
Shortly after midnight Sunday, police were called to the 2000 block of Brandon Avenue after a report that a person was hitting parked cars with a stick.
An intoxicated 42-year-old male was located and arrested. A search incidental to his arrest found property that had been removed from one of the damaged cars.
He was lodged to be released when sober with a court date.
