Bear-spray attack
The Brandon Police Service arrested a 20-year-old man on Saturday after he allegedly sprayed another man with bear spray.
Police were informed of the incident, which occurred in the 200 block of Fifth Street, at around 9 p.m.

BPS was told that the victim was in a cab when a man came out of a residence and sprayed him before going back inside, BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested the suspect and charged him with assault with a weapon. He was later released with a court date scheduled for January 2026.
Damage to vehicles
Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Monday after he allegedly damaged two vehicles.
Police received a report that a man was “swinging” an object and using it to hit a vehicle in a parking lot on the 2000 block of Brandon Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with “visible damage,” BPS said in a news release.
A short time later, police received report regarding another damaged vehicle in the same area.
Officers found a man who matched the suspect’s description, and while arresting him, found that he had a change purse that was reported stolen from the second vehicle, the release said.
The man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of mischief under $5,000.
Police said he was taken into custody and would be released with a court date set for January 2026 once sober.
Partner assault
A man was arrested on Sunday after he surrendered to the Brandon Police Service for assaulting his partner, police say.
The man went to the police station at around noon. His partner was outside and prepared to give a statement to police, BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested the man and charged him with assault. He was held in custody until his scheduled court appearance on Monday.
Electric scooter theft
The Brandon Police Service is asking for the public’s help in finding an electric scooter that was stolen on Monday.
Police received a report that a Gotrax electric scooter had been stolen from a business on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue at around 9:45 a.m.
The scooter was secured at a bike station, and when the owner came back from shopping, it was gone.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police non-emergency line at 204-729-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 204-727-TIPS (8477).
Threats and assault
A man was arrested on Monday after Brandon police received a report of an assault at around 9 a.m.
The report stated that a neighbour went to the victim’s home, where he threatened and assaulted them, police said in a news release.
The victim sustained minor injuries, police said.
Officers found the 34-year-old accused at his residence and arrested him. He was charged with uttering threats and assault.
The man was later released with a court date set in January 2026.
