A woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter on Thursday after a stabbing that left a 53-year-old woman dead in Binscarth, Russell RCMP say.
Russell RCMP were sent to a residence in Binscarth at around 11 a.m. on Monday after a report of an unresponsive woman.
When officers got to the residence, they found a woman with a life-threatening injury, Russell RCMP said in a news release on Friday.
Emergency medical services arrived, and the woman was pronounced dead shortly after, the release said.
Mounties said her death was deemed a homicide.
Russell RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services, Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and support units helped in the investigation.
On Thursday, police arrested Sheila Mills, 53, from Binscarth and charged her with manslaughter.
Further investigation determined that the women knew each other and were “involved in a dispute that led to the victim being stabbed,” Mounties said.
Mills was remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.
