Woman punched while walking dog

A woman was arrested on Thursday after another woman was assaulted while walking her dog.

Brandon Police Service responded to a report that an unknown woman went up to the woman walking her dog and punched her in the head before walking away, BPS said in a news release Friday.

Police found a 25-year-old woman nearby and arrested her. She was charged with assault and held in BPS detention cells overnight.

BPS said the woman would be released Friday morning on an undertaking, and she is scheduled to appear in court in February 2026.

Mischief with pumpkin

Brandon Police Service arrested a man after he allegedly threw a pumpkin through his ex-girlfriend’s window on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to the disturbance in the 1200 block of 10th Street at around 10:30 p.m.

The suspect left before police arrived, but officers found and arrested the 42-year-old man just after 11 p.m., BPS said in a news release.

He was charged with mischief under $5,000 and was transported to BPS.

Police said the man would be released on an undertaking in the morning once he is sober, and he is scheduled to appear in court in January 2026.

Assault with a weapon

A woman was arrested on Thursday after she allegedly assaulted her 15-year-old niece the day before.

Brandon Police Service took statements and went to the woman’s residence in Westaway Bay, where officers arrested her, BPS said in a news release.

She was charged with assault with a weapon and assault by choking.

The 45-year-old woman was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in January 2026.

Woman injured in attack

Brandon Police Service arrested a man early Friday morning after he allegedly assaulted a woman.

BPS responded to a report of an intoxicated man with a hand injury at around 12:19 a.m.

Through an investigation, police determined that the man had assaulted a woman by “punching her, choking her, and striking her with a coffee cup,” BPS said in a news release, adding that the woman had injuries consistent with reports of the assault.

The man was transported to the hospital, where he tried to leave against medical advice, police said.

The 38-year-old man was then arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, assault by choking and failing to comply with a release order.

Child pornography

Brandon Police Service arrested a man for possessing child pornography after executing two search warrants.

BPS received a CyberTip on Oct. 28 and started an investigation, BPS said in a news release.

Police executed a search warrant at residences on Ericson Crescent and the 400 block of Fourth Street at around 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, police said.

Officers arrested a 29-year-old man, and he was transported to BPS for a remand hearing.

The man was additionally charged with breaching his release order.
