Combative man Tasered
A man who allegedly threatened police during a traffic stop was arrested on Friday evening.
Officers with the Brandon Police Service stopped a vehicle in the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. after they saw the passenger “hanging out of the vehicle” while it was moving, BPS said in a news release.
When the vehicle stopped, the passenger went up to the officers and threatened them, BPS said.
Police said he resisted and was combative.
The man was ultimately taken into custody after an officer used a Taser on him, BPS said.
The 35-year-old man was charged with uttering threats, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.
The man is scheduled to appear in court next week.
Assault over muffin
The Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Saturday after he allegedly assaulted a restaurant employee over a muffin.
BPS responded to the reported assault on an employee at a restaurant on the 1500 block of First Steet at around 9 a.m.
Police said the assault was over a muffin, and when they took the suspect into custody, they found he had a knife on him.
The 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and possession of a weapon.
A male youth, who was involved in the same incident, also had a knife, which was in breach of his undertaking, police said.
The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with breaching his undertaking.
Both individuals were released on an appearance notice and are each scheduled to appear in court on separate dates in January 2026.
Woman charged in stabbing
The Brandon Police Service arrested a woman early Sunday morning after she allegedly stabbed a man.
Police received a report of a woman “screaming for help” in the hall of an apartment complex on the 700 block of Rosser Avenue at around 2 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man with puncture wounds to his leg, arm, chest and stomach, BPS said in a news release.
An ambulance transported the man to the hospital, and officers found the woman who was screaming for help at the scene, police said.
She was confirmed as a suspect, BPS said.
The 54-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. During her arrest, officers found a blood-covered knife in her purse, BPS said.
The woman was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court.
Possible shooting
The Brandon Police Service is investigating a possible firearm incident after receiving a report on Sunday.
An individual reported hearing two “loud pops” and seeing flashes from the driver’s side window of a vehicle parked in a nearby alley on the 300 block of 12th Street, BPS said in a news release.
It was reported that the vehicle then quickly drove away, the release said.
The witness did not see the make and model of the car, the licence plate or any occupants, police said.
BPS received additional calls about hearing the loud noise.
BPS did a neighbourhood canvass but found no evidence of a shooting, and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
