Westman philanthropists Gord and Diane Peters have donated $1 million to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation to help fund the build of the new critical care centre

The donation was made to boost BRHC’s capital campaign for the centre, A Foundation for Care.

The centre, which is still under construction, will enhance critical care services for patients in the Westman region requiring intensive or complex care, Prairie Mountain Health said in a news release on Friday.

The Peters said they are pleased with the ongoing work at the BRHC, adding that the critical care centre is a “much-needed” addition to the hospital’s development, the release said.

Stacy Senkbeil, the hospital foundation board chair, said the donation was “incredibly generous” and feels like an early Christmas gift for the entire community.

The Peters’ kindness will have a lasting impact on patient care, she said.

The Peters have supported many community initiatives throughout Westman, including a $10-million donation in December 2023 to the Assiniboine College School of Business, which was renamed the Peters School of Business.
